Pleased to Make Your Acquaintance!

Hi Ya'll! Just making a quick post to introduce myself as I'm one of the new ladies around the blog. I'm Miss Fairfax and I've been an avid DC NearlyWeds reader since discovering it earlier this spring. I've found wedding blogs (this one especially!) tremendously helpful in the wedding planning process because you get to read about REAL experiences that REAL brides have had. I was pretty excited to see the post the other day asking for new bloggers and, well, here I am!

My fiance and I became engaged this winter (yay!), and having dabbled in event planning, I was rarin' to get to work planning our day. We set the date not too long ago--it's October 24, 2009 in case you're wondering--and while I can't wait for THE DAY to be here, I'm trying to savor every moment of our engagement and enjoy putting our wedding together.

So it goes without saying that I'm thrilled to join the "Nearly-Wed Band of Brides." I'm looking forward to (hopefully) making some useful contributions on the blog here and sharing the wedding planning process with you!

My Inauguration!

Don't worry I don't have a speech prepared! Before I get down to the great exchange of wedding ideas I wanted you all to know a little bit about me -

Fiance and I both work and live in the D.C. area and we're planning a May 2008 wedding.
What my wedding is about: Warmth, Intimacy, Elegance, Simplicity
What it isn't about: Monograms, Aisle Runners, and Poofy Meringue Dresses
My promise to you: Henceforth no more posts without pictures and I will never re-post something I saw on another wedding blog site (that's lazy man blogging and if you are obsessed with weddings then you are already reading those blogs!)

Though our wedding is in Charlottesville, Virginia, I hope I'll bring you the best ideas from around our area to help make your wedding everything you've been hoping for.
